NTEU Chapter 46 TEPAC

What is TEPAC?

TEPAC stands for the Treasury Emplolyees Political Action Committee.

TEPAC is the only way that NTEU, as a federal employee la bor union, can contribute to federal candidates for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives and the Presidency.

It is the political arm of NTEU and is a federal "PAC" which allows NTEU to support members of Congress who work to protect and defend the rights of federal employees and retirees.

Why is TEPAC important?

Congress has the power to legislate our jobs, our benefits, and our future.

As prohibited by federal election law, NTEU CANNOT use dues money to donate to political campaigns.

TEPAC can only use your voluntary contributions to donate to supportive candidates.

TEPAC gives NTEU the power to be heard on issues of importance to federal employees!

TEPAC: It Works...Hard!

TEPAC, the Treasury Employees Political Action Committee is the political action fund of your union, the National Treasury Employees Union. Money raised for TEPAC is used to support those political candidates who support federal employee and retiree issues.

How It Works

Contributions to TEPAC are voluntary. NTEU is prohibited by law from using dues money to fund TEPAC.

Your voluntary contribution goes right to work supporting those candidates for Congress who champion our issues.

And remember, Congress controls our jobs. Electing pro-federal employee candidates can make those jobs and our futures more secure.

How does TEPAC determine financial support?

NTEU uses the following criteria when deciding which candidates to support with TEPAC funds:

Incumbent:

What is the Member's voting record on federal employee and NTEU issues?

Does the incumbent sit on a committee that has jurisdiction over NTEU issues?

Has the incumbent been helpful on issues of importance to NTEU?

Does NTEU have members in or near the congressional district or state?

Does the candidate have a serious challenge in the general election?

Is the candidate and his or her office accessible to NTEU members?

Non-Incumbent:

Has the candidate completed the NTEU questionnaire with responses that support federal employee issues?

Has the candidate held state or other elected office? If so, has the candidate supported public employee issues?

Has the local NTEU chapter b een contacted by the candidate or the campaign?

Is the candidate's campaign well-organized and well-managed?

Can the candidate win the general election?

How are TEPAC funds spent?

TEPAC contributes to federal campaigns only.

100% of the funds contributed to TEPAC goes to political candidates who support federal employees.

Contributions are NOT based on any politial party.

Candates use money for:

television and radio ads

bumper stickers and buttons

campaign staff

yard signs

any campaign related expense

Contributions are reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC)

all FEC reports can be viewed online at: www.fec.gov

a list of candidates receiving TEPAC support is available at any time from the National Office.

Political Freedom for Federal Employees

Reform of the Hatch Act in 1994 made it possible for you to participate in partisan political activities off site and off duty.

Now, your political involvement is more necessary than ever before.

Congressional forces are at work that would take away or severely curtail virtually every benefit NTEU has won for you over the past decade: pay raises, Locality Pay, family and medical leave, retirement enhancements and much, much more.

While volunteering for political activities is important, giving to TEPAC provides you with an immediate way to help. But, TEPAC and your political freedom could be in trouble, if Congress limits your ability to make donations.

Give To TEPAC Now

Make a difference in your future. Make a commitment to your union and to TEPAC by signing up for TEPAC payroll deduction. It's easy. A few dollars per pay period can make the difference between electing someone who listens and someone who doesn't.

There's Still Time

There's still time for you to influence Congress directly; instantly. TEPAC!

There's still time for you to make your voice heard. Quickly. Loudly. TEPAC!

There's still time for you to take action to prevent job cuts, pay and benefit reductions, and retirement cutbacks. TEPAC!

Give to TEPAC. Give to TEPAC before Congress takes away your opportunity.
