ployee
message regarding the status of the IRS contract
in an effort to clarify your existing rights.
It is times like this that I am reminded of how
reality mimics fiction. I am of course thinking
about "Atlas Shrugged",
the 1957 novel (and soon to be a major motion
picture starring Angelia Jolie) by Ayn Rand. If
you have not had the pleasure of reading this
novel, I highly recommend it. At least you
might make the attempt to see the movie when it
comes out.
For those of you that have not heard of the
novel, the story involves the ever more difficult
struggles of a railroad executive who is
attempting to keep her company running despite
the ever invasive policies of bureaucrats and
politicians. The result being all the competent
people give up and disappear leaving the work to
the political appointees and others with no clue
of how to do the job. Sound familiar?
Have you noticed that the IRS is not making it
very easy to stay with the company? If you look
around you will see your fellow employees jumping
ship right and left. Just look at all your
co-workers that just retired or are looking
forward to do so within the next twelve months.
In summary, with everything to which the Service
has been subjected, it is truly amazing that the
Service has been able to survive.
